Staying Fit with NPAA

Zumba is the latest fitness dance craze. This class is geared for the older active adult and the conditioned exerciser. Our talented instructor, Judy Murphy, will lead you through the dance steps and provide a good workout at the same time.

The cost is $7 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

From the beginning of NPAA, members have enjoyed the benefits of regular exercise classes. The cost is only $3 a week for members and $6 for nonmembers.

Both men and women participate, so gentlemen, there is no excuse not to join us.

A sweet Sunday stretch led by Wendy Campbell. Beginners to seasoned practitioners welcome. Don’t worry if you are new to yoga, this is a great time to start. You will be skillfully led and cared for through movement, breathing practices and meditative practices that will enhance your quality of life. There is a yoga practice that is accessible for EVERYBODY, yoga helps us to know ourselves and what we need. Participants are encouraged to take what what is useful and leave the rest behind.

This calming yoga class will help yop to reduce streess and provides a safe, effective, compassionate, non-competitive environment that is welcoming to all. You will gain balance, strength, flexibility, range of motion and mediation techniques.

Classes are $10 each or commit to 6 practices and pay $50

Come for 1, 2 or 3 half-hour sessions, at $7 per half-hour class; $5 per class if more than one class is taken.

8:00-8:30 AM – Hula Hoops (3 pound)*

8:30-9:00 AM – Zumba Toning (1 or 2.5 pound Zumba Sticks)*

9:00-9:30 AM – Zumba Fitness

If you are interested in getting some fresh air and meeting new people, NPAA offers Bocce on Tuesday at 9 AM and Friday at 10 AM.

This is one of our newer activities and we can add additional times to the schedule if there is interest. Let us know if you want to play Friday or any other time. Bocce is free to members and that’s hard to beat!

Cards & Games

Come to our regularly scheduled Bridge game on Mondays and Thursday at 1 PM. It is only $2 for members and $3 for nonmembers or Tuesday at 7PM (free for members, $2 for nonmembers). There are cash prizes for every table. Please call Nina at 566-7262 so that she can plan the tables.

Many of us are drawn to the game of Mah Jongg because of the beautiful tiles, racks, and boxes, and the wonderful mental exercise. And how we treasure the friendships formed around the table!

All levels of game play, come join the fun! On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays it is only $1 for members and $2 for nonmembers. Tuesday evenings members play free and nonmembers play for $2. Players bring their own NMJL Card. Our loss limit: members play with $2 in coins to pay successful Mah Jongg. Once you run out of money you are allowed to continue playing at no cost. (This is called the pie or “purse is empty.”) If you win, you then begin paying again.

Social Activities

Help NPAA celebrate throughout the season by joining us for our festive Dinner/Dances.  Unless otherwise noted, the donation is $20 for members in advance and $25 at the door for members and nonmembers.

Dinner includes salad, entree, vegetable, dessert and coffee.  We start at 6 PM and ask you to bring your own libations.

  • April 18, 2020, 6:30 PM – Trivia Night (wine & snacks provided; shareable appetizers welcomed; $10/person)

What, you may ask, is a Kaffee Klatch?  Or is it a Coffee Klatch or Coffee Chat?  However you say it or spell it, it’s an informal gathering for drinking coffee and talking.  We gather at the NPAA Clubhouse every Monday and Friday at 10 AM for coffee and pastries so come for conversation or a snack and learn the latest goings-on at NPAA.
